In the heart of the Alpes-Maritimes, there is a natural river called the Vésubie. It is a tributary of the Var and covers tens of kilometres. Along this river are the Gorges de la Vésubie, a natural site to discover!
The Gorges de la Vésubie are an ideal place to practice different aquatic activities. Indeed, when conditions permit, visitors to the region can practice rafting! But that's not all. The Gorges are particularly well suited for canyoning, due to the large number of natural obstacles to be overcome and the beauty of the landscape.
In addition, the bowels of the Earth are accessible from several cavities, which can be explored in the Gorges de la Vésubie. This activity is none other than speleology, which appeals to both children and adults. Of course, the region can be visited on foot, during hikes. But what makes it so rich is its main watercourse!
The Gorges de la Vésubie belong to the Vésubie valley, a corner of spectacular nature. From the Plan-du-Var, the stream has cut gorges, which offer vertical walls to join the river that the Vésubie feeds: the Var. The landscape is Mediterranean between Lantosque and Saint-Jean-la-Rivière. Vines, olive trees and sunny terraces... The valley offers very pretty hikes, such as the one from Belvedere to the Estrech waterfall.
The sector benefits from a very vast biodiversity, which includes many species of plants and animals. The beauty of the landscape and the wild nature of this site make it a great place to practice all kinds of family activities.
The Gorges de la Vésubie are a tourist attraction in their own right, due to the unique geology they offer. The mountain walls carved by the stream offer very interesting landscapes. But visitors to this area will also be able to discover small typical mountain villages, as well as their churches and chapels. In addition, they have access to the Mercantour National Park, the Merveilles Valley and the panorama of the Madonna d'Utelle. A few kilometres further on, they will be able to discover the High Country and the Middle Country, as well as their villages perched in the mountains.
